We Need More College Scouts
For as long as I can remember, and that’s going back decades, student-athletes have slipped through the cracks of the recruiting process.
Talented student-athletes, loaded with intangibles required to get recruited are going unrecognized by college programs.
There is a major disconnect between high school coaches and the recruiting process that teeters on stupidity.
Refusal to immerse yourself with involvement in recruiting or assisting the players who you’ve trained, coached, and help develop then turning a blind eye on recruiting is not going to help those student-athletes.
There’s no question about it, the void is real, there is simply not enough College Scouts.
Loaded with frustration, the parents are confused, their thoughts on the lack of understanding about recruiting is mind-blowing but it’s not their fault. Just like I don’t know anything under the hood of a car.
I just take my car to a mechanic who does. College Scouts are trained professionals, or at least most of them try to be.
Every parent cannot afford the cost of a recruiting service. It’s not your fault, it’s theirs. You have to show them how critical the process is.
The negativity towards recruiting services are well-known for years. My feelings are, so what! Ignore the noise.
The haters will continue to be noisy and continue to hate no matter what.
Club coaches, or any type of coach, are perfect candidates to being a College Scout.
We need more College Scouts to represent the large numbers of high school athletes who slip through the cracks.
In your community, there’s a student-athlete struggling with recruiting and if you’re not there to do anything about it, I’m holding you responsible.

How much do you recommend a Scout to charge for the service?
I believe the college Scouts should charge at a minimum $1,000. I’ve seen some Services as high as $5,000. You want to make your fees respectable so you can earn a living and grow your business. Anything too low we’re raised skepticism among the parents.
