High School Football Recruit: Matt Malcuit

On the college recruiting radar of today is high school football player Matt Malcuit.  The college recruiting process is extremely challenging with many twists and turns. Throughout the recruiting process does Matt Malcuit have what it takes to be recruited by multiple college programs?

What is your overall opinion of high school football player Matt Malcuit Is he a very good player, a great player or an average player?

College coaches all over the country are looking for players out of high school who can sometimes step in and played as freshman. College programs are looking for players who they can develop and replace star players within a year or two; is Matt Malcuit that player?

In the state where Matt Malcuit plays football, is he considered one of the top high school football prospects or just an average football player trying to make a name for himself in this highly competitive world of college recruiting?

Many high school football players receive a great deal of help with the recruiting process from their high school coaches.  In this situation, does the high school coach get the job done when it comes to the college recruiting process or does the coach fall short?

Sometimes high school football players are overlooked by college coaches because of lack of exposure, playing on a losing football program or getting absolutely no help from the high school coach. How does Matt Malcuit’ coach stack up to the day to day details of the overall college recruiting process?

The college recruiting process is difficult, very challenging and time-consuming. In your opinion, do you think Matt Malcuit is being recruited by the right college programs or is there more that can be done for Matt Malcuit in the college recruiting process?

Do you think the NCAA has too many restrictions that limit the college recruiting process?  For example, should there be more contact of high school student athletes during their high school athletic career?  The NCAA in my opinion may be too over-protective with all of their ridiculous rules about recruiting and the treatment of student athletes. What do you think?

Will Matt Malcuit be a major college football recruit and what will be his lasting impact at the college level?  Sometimes, there’s so much attention paid to student athletes at the high school level that we often forget what they do once they reach college. How will the story of Matt Malcuit be told?

Procrastination and the college recruiting process

Procrastination is one of the biggest killers in the college recruiting process.  Many parents who are thinking of the using a college recruiting service want to hold off and wait to see what’s going to happen six months or even a year down the road.  The long wait will hurt your chances of finding a college program.

College coaches are not going to come knocking on your door.  Procrastination in the college recruiting process has many times ruined it for the high school student athletes.

Yes, college recruiting services cost money therefore we understand why there is a certain level procrastination on the part of many parents.

Believe what I tell you, if you delay this process for months or even a year the chances of your son or daughter getting into college had decreased dramatically.

HOW THE RECRUITING SERVICE CAN HELP

Networking with college coaches is what the college recruiting process is basically all about.

Our job at Woods Recruiting will be to consistently contact college coaches on the high school student athlete’s behalf.

This process takes an incredible amount of time because this is one of the huge benefits for using a college recruiting service.

Parents must understand that the college recruiting process is not easy so having a college recruiting service in your corner can help many parents sort through the challenges they will face.

HOW THE RECRUITING SERVICE CAN HURT IF NOT USED

The number of high school student athletes looking to play in college is huge so you must have an advantage as a high school student athlete to gain exposure to college programs.

There are many high school student athletes and parents who believe that if they’re good enough then college coaches will find them. This line of thinking can turn out to be a huge mistake.

Only a small percentage of high school athletes, regardless of the sport, get to pick and choose the college they are interested in. The rest will need help in gaining exposure.

Without the help of getting exposure to college coaches, student athletes could end up without a college or end up at a college that is beneath your athletic ability.

There is a long list of high school athletes and parents who wish they had started the college recruiting process much earlier.

Many of these parents have delayed the recruiting process thinking that somehow, something would happen or that they would hear from a college coach or that the high school coach had some kind of magical connection power with college programs.

It is critical that you give yourself a minimum of two years to thoroughly investigate the college recruiting process because mistakes will happen and by giving yourself enough time to correct those mistakes can make all the difference in a high school athlete going to the appropriate college to fit their athletic ability.

The college recruiting process is something that you cannot play around with and if you make too many mistakes it could kill your chances of playing in college.

The college recruiting process is extremely complex and makes absolutely no sense to the average parent and not having the proper guidance during the process could result in critical mistakes and loss of valuable time along with the possibility of choosing the wrong college.

The worst thing in the world for a high school athlete would be not having enough college programs recruiting you by the time you reach your senior year or throughout your senior year of high school.

There are countless stories and situations where high school athletes thought they were being recruited by the letters and the phone calls they received from college coaches only to end up with nothing!!!!

I believe it is critical to have as many college programs recruiting you as possible because every coach is different and every situation is different in terms of scholarship opportunities or financial packages.

The college recruiting process is very serious. It is very import that high school athletes continue their sport into college and it is also very important to the parents who have invested a huge amount of time and money in their child’s athletic career.

The bottom line is this: you will only get one chance to go from high school athlete to college athlete and as a parent; you must do everything in your power to help your high school athlete achieve success.

WHAT COLLEGE COACHES SAY AND THINK ABOUT COLLEGE RECRUITING SERVICES

College coaches cannot be everywhere; it’s impossible for a college program to recruit every high school student athlete.

Sometimes a college coach will only focus on a certain number of high school student athletes and if you’re not on their recruiting radar you will not get recruited at all.  Our job at Woods Recruiting is to get you on that recruiting radar!

College recruiting is a full-time job with full-time responsibilities on the part of college coaches and if a recruiting service such as Woods Recruiting can make it easier for them by providing detailed information on high school student athletes, then the process for high school student athletes to get recruited is just that much easier.

College coaches need information about high school student athletes on a consistent basis.

It does not matter if that college coach has heard of you are not; the role of Woods Recruiting is to make sure that they don’t forget your name and that you are recruited by them with the ultimate goal of getting in college.

Getting Out of a Disaster!

I’ve been doing this business Woods Recruiting since August 1989 and I have heard and seen just about everything you can think of when it comes to high school athletes getting recruited for college.

I use to play college basketball during the 1980’s and to me; the only thing that has changed is the talent level of the players. I mean nothing has really changed in the past 20 or so years as to how high school and college coaches deal with players and this covers all sports.

I still hear horror stories about how a high school coach has tried to ruin a high school athlete’s athletic career. Believe it or not, there are high school coaches that will not do anything to help their own players get recruited for college.

There are situations where high school coaches have put out misleading information about one of their own athletes to college recruiters with the intent to destroy the student athlete’s chances of being recruited at all.

It’s sad to think that this kind of thing is still goes on and my writing this article about it I can’t believe it’s still happening. High school players have been messed over so much for years at the hands of high school coaches.

Here are some things that I have heard and or had to fix during my years in the business of college recruiting:

High school coaches have held back recruiting letters that come to the schools for a certain player from a college program. What I mean is that the player or players have no idea that a college program has an interest in them because that player did not get the recruiting letters. Sad, but true and many high school coaches feel that they are helping the players by holding back these recruiting letters.

What I did with my recruiting service to fix this problem was to provide the student athlete’s home address and phone number in any information that was sent to a college program. That way, the college coaches who were doing the recruiting could just mail letters right to the student athlete’s home without going through the high school.

A very good high school basketball player from Ohio some years ago was told by the school administrators not to take the SAT test!

Now we all know that without this test score, there is no way the student athlete or any athlete could get into college. Their goal was to make sure that the student athlete did not get into college.

To this day, I still don’t understand why that high school would do that. But what I did was call the school on that person’s behalf and, with the okay from his parents, find out what the hell was the problem! I mean this high school basketball player was 6’9 and no one was recruiting him because he had no test scores!

The school administrators said that they did not think he wanted to go to college! They must have been blind! I guess they did not see a 6’9 basketball player who had talent to play in a college program! Well, I got the school straightened out and got this very good basketball player into college and now he’s playing basketball overseas.

When I was an up and coming high school basketball player, the team that I played on had many good players but the coach, at that time, did very little with recruiting. I shouldn’t even call him a coach because of what he didn’t do with recruiting!

Now the summer before my senior year in high school the same players that were on my high school team won the summer league championships.  We beat the same teams and players that we faced the season before and that we would face my senior season.

Why did we do so well? It was the coaching. We had a different coach that summer that cared about the players on the team and we wanted this man to coach us during the high school basketball season during our senior year.

Sad to say that it did not happen and we had another losing season and the coach who had coached this team for 3 seasons, quit at seasons end. Because of the pressure from many parents, he did nothing to build a basketball team and he did even less when it came to recruiting.

The many millions of high football players out there who have dreams of playing in college have had those same dreams crushed when the coach either quits or is fired at seasons end. What happens to the players who need their coach to help them get recruited for college? Who helps these players?

In most situations, these football players are left with no help and sometimes these student athletes ends up either not going to college, junior college or they go to college but not to play football and sometimes their football career ends. Football season begins at the start of the school year and is over by December so there are many things still to do when it comes to recruiting but if there is no coach, the players are screwed.

Now for years and years high school student athletes have been messed over by a lot of high school coaches and the word has gotten around for years of what high school coaches have done to a lot of talented high school student athletes for years and years.

Parents are now taking matters into their own hands. In today’s time with the power of the internet and college recruiting services. Parents now have options that were not available to them many years ago. They are not totally leaving it up to the high school coaches to help their kids get recruited for college.

These parents are using many other resources in order to help their kids achieve greater opportunities in the world of college recruiting. With the explosion of the Internet, more and more parents can do their own recruiting.

These days, there is more access to a lot of information on recruiting. You can now email college programs, make phones and record and distribute your own DVD’s. Technology has allowed many parents to do more than ever. I think the days of totally leaving it up to high school coaches to help students get recruited for college is over.

Well, not totally. Keep in mind, to do your own college recruiting is time consuming and does bring certain challenges.  Therefore, the need for college recruiting services is key-if you can find the right one.

The college recruiting process of Woods Recruiting

Go with Woods Recruiting because we can help you gain the exposure to college coaches.  The most important thing in the college recruiting process is the ability to get your name out to a large number of college coaches.

Many of these college programs will overlook you and treat you as though you are invisible.

Woods Recruiting can help develop a college recruiting plan to get you the maximum exposure necessary.

Exposure

Networking with college coaches

Follow-up with college coaches

Consult with the parents and student athletes about the recruiting process.

You will get all this and much, much more if you decide to goal with Woods Recruiting. If you are one of the top rated athletes for your sport in your state, you do not need a college recruiting service but the other 98% of you do!!!

There are many athletes who are in college right now but wish they were at some other school. I believe that if they had signed up with a very good recruiting service then they would not be at a college that they didn’t like or had to pick because there were no other choices.

There are a lot of high school athletes right now who are being overlooked by college programs.

As they move throughout their high school athletic careers the problem will get worse.

Many of these athletes believe that they will eventually end up in college.  But reality will soon set in and they will be left with nothing to show for all the hard work they’ve put in their sport.

There are many parents of high school athletes out there who believe that the high school coach will take care of everything.

I believe this is a huge mistake because it is not the high school coach’s responsibility to handle every single detail of the college recruiting process.

Disappointment

Anger

Frustration

Helplessness

Slipping through the cracks

The high school coach sucks

These are some of the phrases I’ve heard from parents and student athletes on how they feel about the overall college recruiting process.

Parents and high school student athletes: you only have one chance to go from high school athlete to college athlete so do everything in your power to make it happen! Go with Woods Recruiting college recruiting service today!
