Considering “Law & Order” is known to adapt real life crimes, changing the plot just enough so it’s considered fiction, it was only a matter of time that the show would take on Tiger Woods’ troubles.

This Wednesday’s episode of “Law & Order: Los Angeles” features a skirt-chasing golf pro and his club-wielding wife. When police arrive to the scene, the injured golfer says his wife was just trying to save him from the swimming pool (instead of a wrecked car). Apparently this golfer didn’t know how to swim and his wife used a club to rescue her husband instead of a life ring and/or hook.

A spokesperson for the series claimed the episode strictly fiction. Of course, it is, technically, but writers have to find their inspiration somewhere. Besides, it’s not like we really know what happened to Tiger on Thanksgiving night.

Electronic Arts Chief Executive John Riccitiello recently spoke at the Reuters Global Media Summit and one topic of discussion was on Tiger Woods and his relationship with the company. Riccitiello revealed that there will be a Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 for the consoles but that Woods needs to perform better or risk the company looking at other options.

“We have no plans to move away from him, but it’s a business relationship on the basis of we make the best golf game and he’s the best golfer. Both of those things need to be true in the long run for the partnership to make sense.”…”He sort of stuck with us for a very long time and we made great business together, and we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a period of time.”

The company recently launched a game on Facebook that notably lacked the presence of Tiger Woods’ name. The cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 also featured another golfer for the first time as Rory McIlroy joined him in an effort to promote the Ryder Cup mode being introduced in the game. Many found it difficult however to imagine that a shared cover just happened to be a coincidence.

It was a very controversial decision to keep Tiger Woods as the spokesman for what ended up remaining Tiger Woods 11. Despite several companies cutting ties with Woods, it was EA Sports that continued to stand by him with the reasoning that he was the best golfer in the world and represented their golfing product better than anyone else could. That his actions away from the golf course had no effect on what that meant for the game at hand.

Consumers disagreed however and showed it as sales were damaged drastically. The Wii version of Tiger Woods 11, which has been the highest selling version this generation by far, fell a shocking 86%. In total Tiger Woods 11 dropped 68% when including the PS3 and 360 sales which were weak as well. Surely evaluation was going to take place and it appears at this point in time that EA believes Woods’ name still holds more value than any other golfer on the tour or the potential of releasing the game with a more generic title. Another down year though and that may not be the case.

Good news — Tiger Woods managed to stay away from hopping behind the wheel of his Escalade and plowing into a fire hydrant and neighbor’s tree before his wife performed the miraculous smash and grab just outside the driveway of his Isleworth home this year. Oh, no Florida Highway Patrol troopers or Windermere police officers showed up as surprise guests, either.

In his fifth career-tweet, Tiger checked in with his 264,723 (and counting) followers on the year-anniversary of receiving The Most Expensive Traffic Ticket In The World: “Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I just finished a pretty tough cardio session this morning because of all the apple and pumpkin pie.”

It’s unclear where he had his Turkey feast, but apparently he spent it with his “family,” including his mother. Of course, there was no chance in hell that he could have had a worse holiday than the last one, but I can’t imagine Thanksgiving will ever be the same again.

Hope everyone had a wonderful time stuffing themselves with delicious food, getting drunk, falling asleep on the couch watching football and waking up to watch more football!

While you were sleeping, SportsGrid was up all night watching TV and searching the internet for links to help get your day started. Today, Tiger has a rough start, Glenn Beck has a Cardinal-attended rally, Brett Favre shows the rust, and more.

Tiger Woods, after such a good start, is essentially out of contention at the Barclays after shooting a 1-over 72 yesterday, leaving him nine shots out of the lead. Tiger’s lowlight yesterday came early – a triple bogey on the first hole. He rallied a bit near the end, but his end result here looks like it won’t match the promise of his first round.

Glenn Beck held a rally yesterday, if you weren’t aware. Tony La Russa and Albert Pujols were there. Pujols was honored with a medal, and gave a speech. This move wasn’t popular with everyone, but we suspect if Pujols keeps mashing baseballs, all will be forgotten. Well, maybe not with Bissinger.

Brett Favre had a rough night last night, throwing two interceptions – one returned for a touchdown – and losing a fumble. The Vikings won 24-13, though (it’s the preseason, but still), aided by a 7-yard touchdown catch from former Rutgers linebacker Ryan D’Imperio, who’s being used as a fullback in Minnesota. The experiment sure worked last night.

Earlier today, the U.S.A. national team improved to 2-0 at the world championships with a 99-77 win over Slovenia, led by Kevin Durant’s 22 points. Unlike the last time the U.S. met Slovenia in a prominent international tournament, Koman Coulibaly did not wind up at the center of controversy.

“The American academic Peter Struck, writing in the historical publication Lapham’s Quarterly, has identified the second-century AD charioteer Gaius Appeleius Diocles as the best-rewarded sporting figure ever. Probably illiterate, Diocles made a whopping 35,863,120 sesterces in prize money alone, an estimated $ 15bn in today’s money.” (H/T Darren Rovell)

While you were sleeping, SportsGrid was up all night watching TV and searching the internet for links to help get your day started. Today, Tiger falls back to earth, people still hate Jay Mariotti, Lil Wayne gets an outlet for his love of tennis, and more.

Remember that awesome first round Tiger had at the Barclays? He couldn’t follow it up, shooting a two-over 73 in the second round yesterday. He’s four shots back of the lead, so it’s not out of the question that he makes a late run.

Count Bulls and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf among the legions of Jay Mariotti-haters, although we believe he’s the first to use the term “pissant” in describing the columnist. SportsByBrooks also points us to an instance of what at first appeared to be a Fanhouse colleague leaping to Mariotti’s defense, but alas, was not.

Lil Wayne is a huge tennis fan, and while he serves out his prison term, Sports Illustrated thought they’d give him a respected mainstream media voice through which to share his opinions on the upcoming U.S. Open. Weezy, genuinely thankful to SI for giving him the chance, picked Rafael Nadal and defending women’s champ Kim Clijsters to win at Flushing Meadows. (H/T Deadspin)

You might be devastated over Stephen Strasburg’s impending Tommy John surgery/yearlong absence, but here’s another young pitching prospect to follow: the Reds minor leaguer Aroldis Chapman, whose fastball was recently clocked at 105 MPH. Sure, he’s a reliever, but 105?! Even if the gun was generous, that’s just crazy.

And here’s some “thankful it wasn’t worse” pitching news: the Brewers’ Yovani Gallardo and clubhouse attendant Alex Sanchez were robbed at gunpoint early Friday. According to Gallardo, neither was seriously hurt.

“I was days from moving,” he says. Then Canadian immigration officials intervened, forcing him and the CFL into a holding pattern because of his legal circumstances. “With my specific charge, it’s harder to be let in. I get that. All I know is I am here, trying to make it right.”
