Darrelle Revis Ends Holdout, Signs Multiyear Deal With Jets

Oh, glorious Revis day. The New York Jets have agreed in principle to a 4-year, $ 46 million deal with holdout superduperstar Darrelle Revis. $ 32 million is guaranteed in the deal.

According to the New York Daily News, a breakthrough in the stalemate between Revis and the Jets came when head coach Rex Ryan flew down to Revis’ home in Florida. A few hours after Ryan showed up, the deal was done.

A little after midnight, Revis tweeted: “To my family, neil, & john I love u guys I’m comin home baby!!! Revis Island LET’S GO.”

Although the Revis signing apparently made Rex Ryan jump up and down (it was probably more of a hop) all is not gravy in the Jets locker room. The team has cut 15-year veteran Tony Richardson, a move that was immediately unpopular in the locker room.

The Jets hope to re-sign Richardson after Week 1, when his $ 855,000 salary wouldn’t be guaranteed. Still, one anonymous player told ESPN New York that the move was “Terrible.”

Another player said, “[It's] f—— ridiculous.”
