Phoenix Bat Company This Is Worth Looking Into

The Phoenix Bat Company are makers of custom baseball bats from era’s long gone. The company started in 1991. They also make the baseballs that were used back in the 1800s. All the bats are mad of real wood.

Now you may be thinking why would I want a baseball bat like they used in the 1800s? Well the reason is because there are old-time baseball leagues all over the country that play by the rules from the 1800’s.

The company also makes baseball bats for special occasions. They have maple and ash bats as well. There is a long list of other baseball related items on the website that you may be interested in.

The website is okay; nothing real fancy. Everything you are looking for is right there and easy to get to.

Overall, this is a very unique business and if you are looking for these types of baseball bats then take a good look at The Phoenix Bat Company.

VertiMax: An Incredible Training System

If you are a high school student athlete looking for ways to improve athletically, I suggest you take a serious look at the VertiMax Training System.  On the company’s website there are many different videos for various sports that offer many different techniques on how to use their training system.

If you are a high school basketball player the VertiMax Training System can clearly help you improve your jumping ability, speed and quickness.

If you play high school football I can see how this program can definitely help you with explosiveness when the ball is snapped and will also help in your overall strength and quickness to play football.

In football everything is measured and quickness and speed and your 40 time the VertiMax training system can no doubt help you too dramatically improved and all those areas and much more.

The college recruiting process comes down to college programs looking for the best athletes who are in shape, who are in top condition and who can perform at the highest possible level athletically.

I compared this training program to taking the standardized tests; if you do not score well on the standardized tests you will become invisible to college coaches.  Using the VertiMax Training Systerm will help you to gain the attention of college coaches.

Sometimes it takes the right training system to gain an edge over another high school athlete when it comes to getting a full athletic scholarship.  I would do whatever I needed to do in order to condition myself as an athlete to get that athletic scholarship and I believe the VertiMax Training System can do that for you.

Information on College Recruiting Steps for Parents

Whether you play football, volleyball, run track or you’re the best baseball or basketball player in the state, the college recruiting process is all the same.

For parents who will spend money on their very talented kid, here are some things that could be helpful:

1. Take the SAT or ACT tests early and often and keep trying to get a better score each time. The test scores carry more power than the GPA. Many student athletes make the mistake and wait to take the test in their senior year. At the latest, take the ACT or SAT during your junior year. You can take the practice tests, too.

2. Go to camps or events or showcases where you know there are going to be a number of college coaches in attendance. If enough college programs can see you play over a long summer then that’s a good thing. Never go to an event and there are no college coaches there.  You’ll be wasting your money.

3. Get a good DVD made. This is very important because college coaches are not coming to high school games anymore. Get a copy of a good game and mix in some highlights. Make sure you identify who it is in the DVD. I would say get 100 DVD’s made and mail them to 100 college programs.

Mix up your list of programs of big programs and small programs. Also, make sure you have the talent to play at any of these programs before you mail the DVD. Have some extra DVD’s just in case someone did not get one or you think of another college to mail to or better yet, a coach calls and asks for a DVD.  You can have tape or film when talking to a college coach. It’s all the same. Get them a DVD!

4. Have the student athlete in the family call the coach or an assistant coach and let that coach know who you are and that you have an interest in their program. If you’re a little shy, write them a hand written letter. That will make a great first impression! Email will at first get lost with all the other junk that’s out there so write to the coach.

That is just a small list of things you can do to get you going with the steps you need to make it to the next level.

Baseball Reference A Great Website

This is one of the best baseball websites in the world. I have been going to this website for years and they do a great job of keeping this site up-to-date. Any player who has ever played baseball is in this website’s database. I can remember back over the summer, my brother and I were talking on the phone about Hank Aaron and we needed to find out some information about him.

The statement from my brother was that Hank Aaron never hit over 50 homeruns in a season. So, we visited Baseball Reference and within a few seconds, we found Hank Aaron’s page and he was right–Hank Aaron never hit over 50 homeruns in a season. What was more impressive was how easy it was to find that information on Hank Aaron and other baseball players.

There are other baseball websites out there with a lot of information but this website, Baseball Reference, is hands down one of the best!

What is also great about this website is how easy it is to find what you are looking for; from players to all the teams and their salaries.

Overall, this website is better than the MLB website.

Eastbay

Eastbay is a leading world supplier of athletic shoes, clothing and sports equipment. It was established to meet the performance needs of local high school and college athletes within Central Wisconsin. Originally viewed as a grassroots project, this venture grew into a worldwide direct mail catalog and internet sales conglomerate featuring top athletic brands such as adidasASICSReebok,JordanNew BalanceSaucony and Nike.

The company began in 1980 when boyhood pals and high school coaches Art Juedes and Rick Gering set out to find professional-quality shoes for their athletes and ended up in business for themselves. With little more than $7,000 worth of running shoes and a dream, the pair took to the road and set up shoe clinics near theirWausau,WIhometown. At each stop they educated attendees with the benefits of their shoes and provided descriptive price lists.

Three years later, in 1983, these price list handouts became a four-color catalog featuring track & field shoesbasketball shoes, football cleats and baseball cleats. The catalog was a catalyst for sales. In 1988, phone operators were hired to take orders. In 1989, Eastbay began a Team Sales division and in 1990 created and produced its first in-house Team Sales catalog. By 1990, Eastbay’sCallCenter, Shipping and Creative Departments occupied nearly an entire city block.

Eastbay also established its own clothing brand in 1990, offering jackets, pants, shorts and tops in a variety of team colors and styles, all featuring the signature Eastbay logo.

On Friday, Sept. 29, 1995 Eastbay went public and opened on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Two years later, shareholders sold the company to retail giant Woolworth.

In July 1997, Eastbay moved its downtown corporate operation and retail store to a larger space inWausau’s near west side. Three months later it combined the shipping department and various warehouses into a new 500,000-square-footDistributionCenterlocated in the outskirts ofWausau. In March 1998, Eastbay converted its informational website into an active ecommerce site at www.eastbay.com. Eastbay also manages an additional call center inOshkosh,WI.

Although an era ended when Eastbay founders Art and Rick retired on June 30, 1999, the business continues to thrive. Eastbay’s parent company, Woolworth, also underwent revision in November 2001, changing its name to Foot Locker, Inc., a reflection of its global commitment to the athletic shoes and apparel business.

#1 Online Custom Gear Shops

It all started with a blanket…

A friend needed some custom blankets for a client. While touring a classic fleece supplier, the owner proudly pointed to a big order of thermal pizza delivery bags. A bit crazy, but we wondered if our fleece could be backed with pizza bag material to protect from the weather. We created a prototype and named it SportsRap. The client loved it and placed a nice order. The supplier couldn’t mass produce it, so we made them all by hand. There must be a better way.

We started a company. It was much harder than it looked. After lots of goofs and many years, we sold millions of dollars of SportsRaps and custom blankets. Customers smiled and started asking for other items. Bought a lot of expensive customizing equipment and added t-shirts, hoodies and hats.

We delivered orders to a bunch of school customers. Helped them haul boxes and set up spirit wear sales. Lots of work. Lots of volunteers. Lots of order forms. There must be a better way.

The Internet thing really took off. Google became a verb. Gotta get online.

We launched a site called MyLocker.net. It was much harder than it looked. We built it so everyone could design their own stuff on-screen. Bought more expensive customizing equipment. Lots of orders started to come in.

Built hundreds of custom online shops for schools and teams. Customers smiled and started asking if we’d build them an online shop. Hired lots of web developers to create ‘shop builder’ – so easy that my mom could build an online shop in less than 5 minutes.

As of today, we have:

  • Over 110,000 custom online shops for schools, teams and leagues (mom hasn’t built one yet)
  • Major partnerships with cool websites and team/league management companies
  • Lots of expensive equipment to make stuff
  • Lots of employees that fix the expensive equipment

It’s still a lot harder than it looks, but we keep tryin’…

Our favorite idea:

It would be cool to design your own stuff on-screen in 30 seconds & get it in a couple days.

Our favorite sayings:

“If you leave it in your locker too long, it will smell really bad.”
“Don’t wash it. Just buy a new one.”

The site focuses mainly on the perils and follies of the Sports Media, but also critiques and reviews those within the Sports World. The site has been mentioned on SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, WFAN, and various newspapers throughout the Country. AA was also an honorable mention for Best Non-Corporate Sports Web Site in SI.com Richard Deitsch’s annual Media Awards in 2007.
