Not Getting Division 1 Offers

I was reading  somewhere on a website a father talking about his son not getting any division offers even though they’d heard from five D-1 programs. The father goes on to say that they have also heard from a lot of Division-2 football programs but still can’t understand why not D-1.

Well my take on this is that there are a lot of good high school football players out there but major college programs are looking for size and speed. This goes for every sport, not just football.

Too many parents are hung up on Division 1 and just because you want something does not mean you’re going to get it!

Maybe this father’s son is good but, so what. Who cares? Why not go with Division 2? They have good football programs at that level and you can get a college degree, too.

The problem with most people is they go by what they see and most parents only know of major college programs because they play on T.V.  When you see 100,000 fans packed into football stadiums you want your kid to be a part of that and there’s nothing wrong with wanting the very best but don’t close the door to other levels of college programs!

But these college programs are not recruiting you for a reason. You’re not good enough to play at that level so get over it and go somewhere you’re going to play and have fun! That’s important, too.

Believe me, most of the players that are being recruited by major college programs did not have to do anything like write letters and mail DVD’s. Most major college programs don’t need that! They have the money and resources to get the players they want.

Think about this:  you’re not getting offers because your kid may not be that good and this applies to all sports.

Not getting a D-1 offer is not the end of the world. Trust me.

“I just want an opportunity to play in college!”

Most high school student athletes who love their sport want the opportunity to play in college. Many student athletes have worked very hard at their sport and don’t want it to end in high school.

How many times have you heard some high school player say, “I just want an opportunity to play in college?” Well, I’ve heard it a billion times and what that statement tells me is that there are no opportunities out there. There are no college programs recruiting you at all. That is what that statement is telling me and that’s too bad.

There are millions of high school student athletes out there and for some unknown reason, they are not going to college. Well, there are reasons. Sometimes that player may be one of the team leaders but may not have the size or the skill to play at any level and, no matter what that player has done, from going to camps to having near perfect grades, that ball player is still going to be looking for a chance at getting into a college program.

Most of the time when you are still looking for an opportunity to play in college that tells me that you did not look at other college programs or at all levels.

While many other high school student athletes have found a college program some of you will still be looking for an opportunity!

5 Effective Strategies to reach College Coaches now!!

Most of the high school student athletes out there are looking to play at the next level and most days you are looking for ideas to help with the college recruiting process. I have cam up with a list of things that can help you in the process of getting your name out there.

1. Come up with a list of 100 college programs that are in your home state or in the neighboring states.  The more college programs you have the better it will be for you in the long run.

2. Write to each coach that is on your list. I feel the best and most effective way of going about this is with hand written letters. This give a powerful touch to any college coach that you are trying to reach and makes a great first impression.

3. Get a DVD made. The DVD is critical to the college recruiting process, the reason is that most college coaches are not coming out to high school games anymore and the only way they can evaluate your talent and skill is by seeing you play on DVD.

4. Follow up man! Or woman. Most of you never follow up with a college coach, you must stay in touch with a coach who has written to you or has mail you information. By this time you may be able to email a coach so do it every week. What you should do is let that coach or coaches know what is happening with you from game stats to academic performances.

5. The Summer, you must play your sports during the summer months this is where college athletic recruiting will start and when all college coaches can get out and see you play. Always play where there are college coaches in attendants anything else is a waste of time.

The college recruiting process is a marathon of hard work of dedication to your sport of consistency to develop into an outstanding student athlete. Recruiting is never easy for huge number of student athletes who wish to play there sport at the next level.

It will take many hours of hard work to gain the attention of college coach there are no shortcuts in the process of getting recruited. What may work for some one who is going through the recruiting process may not work the same way for you; you must develop a plan and stick to that plan until you have signed your letter of intent.

You will increase your chances of being heavily recruited if you are an outstanding athlete and an outstanding student this will give you major advantages over all other take shortcuts look for the easy way out when it comes to the process of college recruiting.

Nitt Links Thinks Beaver Stadium Could Be Bigger Too

—Talking Point—

If you watched the Boise State-VT game last night you got to see quite the game. Hopefully you enjoyed it as much as I did and found a way to stomach the halftime show.

I understand why people get upset that Boise State has an easy road to the National Championship Game. In Boise State defense though It isn’t like they make it to a big game and get stomped, these guys will give any team in the country issues. Is it a little unfair? Yea…but..USC had to march through a tough Pac-10 all  those years right?

If college football wants the right teams to make it to the title they need a playoff. Boise State isn’t ruining football, the BCS is ruining football by making it a business first.

Alabama will not appeal Marcell Dareus’ two game suspension

As somebody said earlier– If Marcell Dareus played for Penn State–NCAA puts Dareus out for 2 weeks, Joe says “Ok, but he’s going to sit out all year”

Forget SJSU, Bring on Penn State – Roll ‘Bama Roll

I didn’t always like Bama fans. I’ll admit it. Some of them rubbed me the wrong way with their constant SEC gospel. The more I’ve read Roll Bama Roll though I’ve gained a lot of respect for a very rich traditional fanbase. Alabama and Penn State aren’t that different in their core and it’s made me appreciate the series that we’re starting this year even more.

If you hadn’t noticed.

What could’ve been

Nike has been making all of those fancy jersey’s. This would have been Penn State’s version.

Have fun guessing what that all means. I do know that Penn State wants to rebuild the West Boxes, but this is taking place in the North Endzone so your guess is as good as mine.
